Americanism was dominating our Lodge on 3 February as we recognized our middle school Americanism essay contest winners; our Hickory Elks Firefighter-Police Officer-State Trooper of the Year; and our Exceptional Military Service Persons of the Year. To witness the young people being recognized along side of those who could have been their parents and grandparents was truly rewarding. During May and June, the Americanism Committee honored JROTC cadets from 4 area high schools who have demonstrated exemplary achievements in academics and leadership in the 2017-2018 school year. In June, the Americanism and Veterans Committees hosted the Flag Day Ceremony paying special tribute Old Glory. The start of the 2018-2019 school year ushers in the new Americanism Essay Contest. We look forward to this exciting new school year. Your Americanism Committee fosters the recognition of our community’s very best. For those of you looking for a way to honor your Lodge, honor Elkdom, and honor our great country, perhaps the Americanism Committee is the right place for you. Be an Elk in action, get involved!
